Louie CK is an extremely funny and extremely filthy comedian. He’s also a divorced father of two young girls. The show moves between sets from his stand-up to fictional scenes of the character Louie’s life. I say fictional – it seems likely that most of it is based on some kind of truth, but it’s definitely not documentary.
As is that case with me and television, I think I watched too much of this in a short time. I really like Louie as a comedian and as a character. But by the end of the second season, I was getting pretty sick of him and the way his life unfolds. I’m going to hold off for a while before watching the next couple of seasons. Watch it, but not in a huge chunk. And definitely watch the episode where he travels to Afghanistan to entertain the troops. It’s fabulous.
Louie was nominated for a Golden Globe in 2013 for Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series.
The series has won a variety of awards including AFI, DGA and Emmys.
