The Delay (2012) MIFF Film Review

Working at home to support her children whilst trying to keep an eye on her elderly father who has a tendency to wander off has taken its toll on Maria. She is tired all the time and finds it difficult to cope. Finally, after trying to arrange alternative accommodation for him, Maria is driven to the edge and takes action.

The reality of this film is awful, but it is so true. Roxana Blanco is wonderful as Maria, with every fibre of her being exuding that total exhaustion that comes from the constant demands of her situation. I felt totally overwhelmed by her plight, knowing that there were so few options to help her out.
