These two films tell the epic story, based on truth, of two rival families who violently tear each other to pieces to gain power and control in a town in India’s northeast . Apparently, it is based on a true story. I want to know more about this – if it is anywhere near as exciting as this film, it’d be amazing.
Both films are bloody and fast and gruesome, but the second film takes it to a whole new level.
Seeing both films is important – whilst each film tells a separate section of the story, they are not totally stand alone, and only seeing one or the other would leave a lot of questions – a key question being who is that man and why is he killing that other man?
At times, it felt that some of the important transitions were glossed across so that I was left confused as to what had happened, but it didn’t take long to figure out where you were – and then to be taken to another time or place.
The characters in the film were awesome. I do love a film that has no qualms in killing off some of the main characters at the least expected times in the narrative. I also love a film that sets up a certain expectation from the audience for a character, but then twists them so they behave in a totally different manner. And the songs! The translation is not censored, but I am going to censor myself here. It’s worth seeing the films for the lyrics of the songs alone.
There is a lot of time to be invested into these films, but if you like good, crazy action movies, invest the time!
