Apparently, once you’re a ninja, that’s it. You’re a ninja for life. If you try to escape, you will be hunted down and killed by the other ninjas. Kamui became a ninja as a young child after being orphaned and left to fend for himself. As an adult, he doesn’t want this life anymore, and lives always running, always looking over his shoulder. In this film, he has to fight off not only his pursuers, but also the temptation to settle in a small fishing village.
The film is very, very beautiful. Stylish and stylized, with fabulous fight scenes and excellent effects. It is also ridiculously confusing. There were times I had no idea about what was going on. And then the film ended. I think it is worth watching as it is beautiful, but don’t expect a clear storyline.
