Cargo (2009) Film Review

Unknown

Have you seen the Matrix? Alien? Gravity? None of these? Then I reckon you could find the twists and turns of this Swiss sci-fi drama fascinating. If you’ve seen any or all of these films, you’ll probably still enjoy the film, but have the sense that you’ve seen in all before.

This is how it goes. The world has been destroyed and majority of the population of Earth now live on a massive, overcrowded space station with illness spreading quickly. Dr Laura Portmann (Anna Katharina Schwabroh) is in communication with her sister, Arianne (Maria Boettner) who lives on the planet Rhea, a paradise. Taking a position on a cargo ship, Laura plans to use the money she earns to join her sister. But things take a sinister turn…

I won’t say anything to spoil it just in case, but the twists and turns that the story takes are not the most fresh or original. Still, it is  an extremely impressive looking film, beautifully shot.
