There I was, very pleased to be reading the Scarpetta series again and then I come across this one. Cause of Death. Perhaps in my mind I’ve credited Cornwell with far better writing than she actually produces. Or perhaps I’ve read far better books in the meantime. It felt like someone else had written this book. It was awful. Even when it gets to the big, huge Hollywood style siege at the end where everything is on the edge, lives are at stake, I just couldn’t care less.
I’m not prepared to give up on Cornwell just yet – not when I still have fifteen more to go. I just hope that Unnatural Exposure, the next one down, is better.
