After enjoying Pillars of the Earth, another interpretation of a Ken Follet series of books, I had hoped for more from this. It Australia it was shown as four parts, and after the first two, I had all but given up. But I am glad I persevered – there were a few really juicy characters that were worth following: the herbalist-accused-as-witch-turned-nun, the evil priest, the even more evil mother, the evil (let’s face it, the evil characters are the most fun) soldier. But overall, it was nowhere near as good as Pillars of the Earth.
