Wings of Desire (Der Himmel uber Berlin)(1987) Film Review

Angels wander Berlin listening in to the very thoughts of the many Berliners, at times bringing them hope. As a circus closes, one angel, Damiel (Bruno Ganz) falls in love with a trapeze artist, Marion (Solveig Dommartin) and finds help in the unlikeliest of places – Peter Falk. Yes, the actor most famous for playing Columbo is in Berlin shooting a film and he’s the one to connect with Daniel.

It’s fascinating to see this representation of Berlin at this time, a city divided, a world that no longer exists. It’s a strange, experimental film, very beautiful and wonderful.
