A shepherd goes on a journey, encountering obstacles that challenge him and guidance from mysterious sources. This is a book that, back in the nineties, any celebrity who was asked about their favourite book raved about how inspirational this book was and so naturally, I avoided it. I should have continued to avoid it.
I had so many issues with this book. Apart from the fact that the main character was really annoying, his obstacles were all overcome very easily, with little effort on his part, and that was pretty tedious. On top of that, his role was to go out and find his way while the woman who was destined to be his love had the role of waiting at the oasis until he returns? Oh, piss off. Seriously, no. Crap, crap, crap. This book made me so angry. Just thinking about it now has me fuming. FUMING!
