The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman – Book Review and Graphic Novel Review

A toddler, whose family has been murdered, wanders into a graveyard. The various spirits of the graveyard band together to raise him as best they can. However, eventually he must venture into the outside world and discover all the glory and horror that it holds.

Initially, I read the two graphic novels that tell the story of the book. I loved them – yes, there were a few bits that I didn’t instantly get, but it really didn’t take long to figure it all out. I loved the drawings and the concept itself tickled me. After, because it’s me, I read the book – and it was also fantastic, though I’d recommend one or the other. There’s no advantage really to read both – and in fact, the artwork of the graphic novel would push me to recommend that over the book.
