Molly Hook comes from a cursed family. Her grandfather took gold from a place that he shouldn’t have, and Longcoat Bob cursed her family to have their hearts turn to stone. She needs to have the curse lifted, and the bombing of Darwin seems the perfect opportunity to escape her horrible life and trek to find Longcoat Bob.
It’s a hard book. Dalton doesn’t shy away from deeply hurting his characters, emotionally and physically, and this can be very difficult to read. But this book is beautiful and poetic and horrific and wonderful.
