The Big Night (1951) Film Review

George is a geeky young man who has just turned seventeen. When his father is brutally beaten by a local crime, he vows vengeance – but it is a harder path for him to go down than he could possibly imagine.

It’s kind of a good film and a terrible film all in one. I’ve not seen a lot of films from the 1950s, but this is full of the over-the-top, melodramatic acting, loud music and big tension. It’s worth a look, although I’d suggest if you are wanting recommendations on older dramatic films to watch, go for On the Waterfront, or All About Eve… perhaps give this one a miss..
