Cameron (Mahershala Ali) is terminally ill, but has been given the opportunity to take part in a program which would allow him to be cloned, without the gene which causes his illness. The catch? He can’t tell his wife and son, but must allow his clone to swap into his life and live the remainder of his short life away from them.
This is a beautiful film, with that gorgeous slowness of some Sci-fi films. It is a world like today’s only with slight technological advances. The question of who are we is explored through Cameron, a man who feels the betrayal of his family deeply whilst also wanting to protect them from his own demise. It’s wonderful and awful altogether.
