F*ck Happiness: How the Science of Psychology Ignores Women by Ariel Gore – Book Review

This is a book which has been published previously under slightly different titles and this makes it all a bit confusing to find out about it. Essentially, Gore interviewed friends about happiness and took a deep dive into the history of psychology through a feminist lens and it absolutely comes out lacking big time. I don’t know if it’s just the cynic in me that every a different study or research project was discussed, I kept thinking (and may have accidentally said out loud) ‘oh, of course.’ Because women and non-binary people were not the focus of these studies. Or, when women were, it was inadequate and not really female centred.

It’s interesting, and I enjoyed reading the sections from Gore and friends. While I didn’t necessarily agree or relate to what they were saying, I enjoyed hearing their voices.
